Mike Kenny
PGA Golf Professional

Mike Kenny was born in Texas and raised in Waterford, Michigan just outside of Detroit. Since starting with MCG Golf in 2003, Mike has held numerous positions. He is currently the Head Professional at Falls Road and the Director of Instruction for the MCG Golf Academy. Hobbies outside of the golfing world include bass fishing and local bass fishing tournaments, and going to both Nats and Caps games as much as possible. Also, following his home teams like the Cowboys, Lions, Red Wing and of course University of Michigan. Go Blue!!! He learned to play at the age of 10 when he started caddying at a private club, Pine Lakes Country Club in Michigan. Mike has been a member of the PGA of America since 1996, is a US Kids Golf Certified Instructor, and a Titleist Certified Fitter. Mike was awarded the 2015 Mid Atlantic PGA Player Development Professional of the Year.

Mike has taught more private lesson since 2003 than any other MCG Instructor. Mike teaches many clinics and junior camps. These classes include Get Golf Ready, Keep Golf Going, and Take Golf Furthers the 3 step to learning golf process put in place by MCG in 2011. He also teaches the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program and the Advanced Youth Development Program. He uses JC Video and Flightscope with his students to give students all the information needed for lessons or equipment needs. Mike also teaches in the MCG Tour Studio located at Needwood. Mike currently works with golfers of all levels and creates time in his schedule to provide lessons to anyone interested in improving their game. To this day Mike believes that the instructional aspect of his profession is an important way to continue growing the game of golf and staying true to the reason he became a PGA Professional.

Mike is passionate about passing on the information he has acquired to his students. He sets a detailed plan for success. Mike understands that score is not the only aspect of golf that people use to calculate enjoyment, and works individually with each of his students to achieve their own personal goals. Mike aims to help you accomplish whatever golfing goals you desire. Mike especially enjoys developing a short game strategy with all of his students, a way for them to understand the shot type, technique and execution for each shot around the green, eliminating wasted shots.

The next time you are at Falls Road or the MCG Tour Studio, please stop by and introduce yourself to Mike.

Tarah Miller
LPGA

Tarah was grew up golfing in Bloomsburg, PA and has lived in the DC Metro since graduating from college in 2005. She has been a member of the MCG Golf Academy at Falls Road since 2012. Tarah has a 5-year-old son, Alex, aka AJ, who is often seen golfing with his Mom at Falls Road. She learned at a similar age because her Dad would bring her and her older siblings to the course with him. She started playing competitively when she was 12 and earned a scholarship to Wake Forest University. After her freshman year she transferred to Saint Francis University (a small D1 school in PA) where she graduated with a BS in Information Systems and Mathematics.

Tarah is a member of the LPGA Teaching & Club Professionals. She serves on the new member committee for the Northeast Section of the LPGA and is a contributor to the LPGA newsletter and the Women in Golf Radio show. Tarah is passionate about continuing her golf educations and regularly attends teaching seminars and conferences that cover all topics of golf.

She is a US Kids Certified instructor and the Site Director for the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Montgomery County. She is a MCG Juniors Golf League Captain, instructs the Advanced Youth Coaching Program, and teaches many of the full day summer camps at Falls Road. Because of her work with juniors, Tarah won the 2017 LPGA Northeast Section Junior Golf Leader Award.

The next time you are at Falls Road, please stop by and introduce yourself to Tarah. She would love to talk to you about how to best improve your golf game.

Mike Olson
PGA Golf Professional

Mike was born and raised in Seattle, WA. He has been a member of the MCG Golf Academy since 2009. Outside of golf, Mike enjoys bass fishing, guitar, and movies. He learned to golf when he was 12 after finally giving in to his golfing father who took him to play with a buddy; a perfectly struck 3 wood from 200 yards on a par 5 was all it took to get him hooked. Ten years later he completed the PGA Professional Golf Management Program and Methodist University, where he graduated as the valedictorian earning his B.S. in Accounting and his PGA membership in 2010. Mike is a Level 2 Coach of The First Tee.

Mike believes that golf is a game, and games are supposed to be fun. Golf instruction can sometimes get too complicated, and it is important to understand what the student is looking to accomplish and shape the lesson(s) around working towards the student’s goal. He truly believes a lesson to be successful when the student understands what changes are being made and why so they can properly practice on their own. He enjoys teaching students of all abilities, but introducing people to the game, especially juniors, is something Mike really enjoys. In addition to private lessons, Mike teaches The First Tee program at Sligo Creek throughout the year, and multiple junior camps during the summer.

The next time you are at Falls Road, please stop by and introduce yourself to Mike. He would love to get to know you and help you improve your golf game.

Paul Mohun

Paul was born and raised in Plymouth, England. He has been a member of the MCG Golf Academy since 2013. Outside of golf, Paul enjoys traveling, spending time with family and watching soccer. He learned to golf at the age of 12 after caddying for his dad decided it would be more fun playing golf rather than carrying the bag. At the age of 15 was ranked in the top 100 in England for juniors. In 2009, he attended the Golf Academy Of America in Myrtle Beach graduating with honors. Paul has certifications in club repair, advanced rules and teaching.

Paul believes that all golfers should have fun playing golf. His teaching philosophy is to work with their personalities so they can understand the concept of the lesson whether it is by feel, visual or analytical. During the lesson Paul likes to breakdown the swing into stages and focus on the stage that is causing the most problems. He sets goals with them and gives drills to improve their game. His major teaching passions are working with juniors and adults trying to get back into the game, it gives Paul great pleasure to see there excitement as they start to grasp the concept of the game and realize how much fun golf is. During the 2017 season, Paul taught 804 private lessons in addition to teaching many of our junior programs - mini camps, full and half day summer camps and coaching MCG Juniors Golf League teams. Paul also teaches Get Golf Ready, Keep Golf Going and Golf Playtime Classes.

The next time you are at Falls Road, please stop by and introduce yourself to Paul. He would love to get to know you and help you improve your golf game.

Brad Patterson
PGA Golf Professional

Brad was born and raised in Rochester, NY. He was introduced to the game at 14 and was down to a scratch player within 2 years. He turned professional on the day of graduation from Florida State and his first "paid" lesson was to Roger Maris. Brad became a Class A member in 1992 and in 2011 was awarded both the Central New York Teacher of the Year and President's Award for Player Development. Since then, he has been named to the Top 50 Growth of the Game Teaching Pros in the US from 2012-2015. He is also PGA Certified in both Instruction and Player Development. Outside of golf he enjoys fishing, boating, and watching movies.

Brad joined the MCG Academy team in August 2017. Formerly, he was Director of Instruction at two public facilities concurrently in the Syracuse area. His mantra is to keep the game simple and learning even simpler. He will tell you, "If a golfer isn't hitting the ball better in 10 minutes then they are receiving bad information." He uses V1 video interaction with his students to drive home the simplicity of his teaching.

The next time you are at Falls Road, please stop by and introduce yourself to Brad. He would love to talk to you about how to best improve your golf game.

Sam Lyons

Sam was born and raised in Myrtle Beach, SC. He is a new member to the MCG Golf Academy but brings with him a strong teaching and playing history. Outside of golf, Sam enjoys hiking, movies, basketball, and spending time with his family. He was introduced to the game by his father at the age of 7 year old. Sam grew up playing junior golf in South Carolina and played on scholarship at Coastal Carolina University. While at Coastal he played on the team alongside PGA Tour player Dustin Johnson. His memorable amateur highlights were winning his first college event and being a quarter-finalist at the US Amateur Public Links where he defeated Rickie Fowler in the Round of 16. After college he turned professional and played on tours across the world, as high up as the Web.com Tour. He has spent time learning alongside players and coaches such as David Leadbetter, Paul Azinger, Greg Norman, David Frost, and Dustin Johnson.

Prior to coming to Falls Road Sam was Director of Instruction at an academy at Sky72 Golf Resort in South Korea, where he taught junior golfers, amateurs, and professionals. Sam is also a Swing Catalyst Level 1 instructor. Sam’s goal in teaching is to help players enjoy the game as much as he does. Sam works towards this, with strong fundamentals such as grip and setup, but always tailors the lesson to the players goals. He aims to make the swing easy on the body where the player will be able to practice and play more freely, while hitting it longer and straighter. Sam really loves to work on the golf swing, but likes to put a big emphasis on working around the greens on short game and putting. In addition to private lessons, Sam teaches Get Golf Ready and Keep Golf Going classes. He is a MCG Juniors Golf Coach and teaches many of the Junior Mini Camps and Summer Camps at Falls Road.

The next time you are at Course, please stop by and introduce yourself to Sam. He would love to get to know you and help you improve your golf game.

Dave’s hobbies outside of the golfing world include traveling, grilling out with family, and getting together with close friends. Dave is currently a teaching instructor at Hampshire Greens Golf Course.

Dave feels that the fundamentals are the key to producing a repeatable golf swing. Proper grip, alignment, stance, swing path, and tempo are critical factors in getting better, which is what we all want to do. His job is to help make you proficient at these and many other aspects of the game we love. He has a patient and positive teaching demeanor and enjoy watching people get better. The golf swing is an athletic move and Dave relate to many other sports that you might have played, making it easier for you to learn.

Matt Jarvis

Matt Jarvis grew up in central Wisconsin but has been a resident of Maryland for 16 years now (although always a Badger at heart). Matt has been a member of the MCG Academy since 2008. His hobbies include working out, attending local sporting events, active participant in the church and striving to be a loving husband to wife, Kelly, and father to his three young kids, Mason (6) and twin daughters Campbell and Ivy (4).

Matt's teaching philosophy is to give my students enough understanding of their golf swing to improve it and enough motivation so they always leave with a positive attitude and high expectations. He focuses on helping each student understand the importance of keeping the mind and body at ease during the golf swing, as well as understanding cause and effect as it relates to the game. Matt analyzes the swing and explains techniques based on their personal learning style, whether it is by pictures, analogies, or other unique means of communication. Most importantly, he is always available to his students with an open door policy.

The next time you are at Laytonsville, please stop by and introduce yourself to Matt. He would love to get to know you and help you improve your golf game.

Brad Cameron

Brad Cameron was born and raised in Germantown, Maryland. He has been a member of the MCG Golf Academy since 2017. Brad has a passion for playing and watching many sports in addition to golf. He is a fan of all DC sports teams and roots for University of Maryland Athletics.  He learned to golf from his father, Dave Cameron. He has been playing the game since he was 13 years old. He played for the 2006 Montgomery College Regional Championship team which also competed in the NJCAA National Championship. His father has taught him to love, respect, and enjoy the game from a very young age.

Brad's philosophy includes using natural athleticism and understanding basic swing principles in order to grow one's game, lower scores, and enjoy golf rounds more. He believes that having fun and small tweaks can be ground breaking for developing more consistency and more love for the game. Brad teaches with a variety of methods between on course adjustments and playing lessons, range time, and endless short game sessions. Brad is the coach of the JV golf team at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School and really enjoys teaching our youth how to enjoy the game and how to thrive on the course. In addition to teaching private lessons at Laytonsville, Brad teaches Ladies clinics at Laytonsville Golf Course.

The next time you are at Laytonsville Golf Course please stop by and introduce yourself to Brad. He would love to get to know you and help you improve your golf game.

Brandon Jarvis

Brandon grew up as a Green Bay Packer fan from central Wisconsin. Sports have always been a part of his life with his parents and two competitive brothers! Some of his favorite past times are playing golf and basketball with friends, snowboarding, and going to movies! Being close to his brother, Matt, his wife, Kelly, and his nieces and nephew has been very fun and action-packed!

Brandon found patience, effort, and practice are the keys to becoming a skilled golfer. His passions leaned toward golf, but he didn’t decide to turn it into a career until attending the Golf Academy of America in Orlando, graduating with a degree in Golf Complex Operations and Management.

Brandon joined the MCG team in 2015 at Rattlewood Golf Course. Following graduation, he had an amazing job offer to serve as Little Bennett’s Assistant General Manager during the winter of 2016, which has led to completion of a Level 1 Certified Coach for the First Tee Chapter in the greater Washington D.C. area. Brandon’s philosophy is to surpass the expectations of all my students by providing personalized golf instruction in a fun, healthy, and relaxed atmosphere, while also creating a personal relationship with each student.

What are you waiting for? Come on out to Little Bennett, and meet with Brandon so he can get to know YOU and help improve your golf game.

Peter Williamson

Peter was born and raised in Hanover, NH. He joined the MCG Golf Academy in October 2017. Outside of golf, Peter enjoys building other skillsets, solving problems creatively, and working on his entrepreneurial idea that gives back through designing custom games. He started playing golf at 2 years old and competitively at age 12. Upon graduating from Dartmouth College in 2012, Peter won two prestigious amateur titles – Southern Amateur and North & South – that helped him reach a top world ranking as well as earn a couple starts on the PGA Tour.

His experience lies mostly in playing around the world as a touring professional. In his travels, Peter has seen swings of all shapes and sizes be effective. Instead of prescribing to certain positions and theories, he focuses more on strong fundamentals like grip and posture, then uses video analysis and launch monitor data to better explain the math and science behind player motion sequences. As with most things in life, getting better at a particular skill takes time and dedication. Peter believes having fun should be at the center of this equation, so he sets up games and challenges to make lessons more dynamic and entertaining.

The next time you are at Little Bennett, please stop by and introduce yourself to Peter. He would love to get to know you and help you improve your golf game.

His goal is for his student's swing to match swing fundamentals, thus making the swing simple and easy to repeat. Hong came to the DC area in 1997 and has taught at several top practice facilities in the area. Mr. Kim teaches in both Korean and English.

The next time you are at Northwest, please stop by and introduce yourself to Hong. He would love to get to know you and help you improve your golf game.

Martin Zadravec

Martin was born and raised in Washington, DC. He has been a member of the MCG Golf Academy since 2009. Outside of golf, Martin enjoys family life, participating in the lives of his two children, and staying fit. He learned to play golf as an adult, after playing basketball and football in high school and college. Martin is fortunate to have Marty Johnson, PGA and the late Bill Strausbaugh, PGA, as his mentors in golf instruction.

Martin believes we can teach a person all they need to know about the golf swing in 45 minutes. The rest is coaching; and coaching is about finding the quickest path to your success and enjoyment of the game. Martin is passionate about the opportunity to help you develop in golf. Martin oversees the entire Youth Golf Program at Northwest, and maintains a busy private lesson book as well. Each August, he hosts a High School Golf Preparation Camp at NW, the week before the county schools hold try-outs. Martin is a Certified Coach of The First Tee Program.

The next time you are at Northwest, please stop by and introduce yourself to Martin. He would love to get to know you and help you improve your golf game.

F. Dustin Stearns

In 2016, Dustin Stearns relocated to Maryland from South Florida.   He has been a member of the MCG Golf Academy since his relocation.  Outside of teaching golf, Dustin enjoys playing as much as he possibly can and spending time with his wife Tracey. He also enjoys studying Nutrition and Human performance.  Growing up playing every sport imaginable except golf, Dustin learned like many of his students later in life.   Realizing golf was a true passion; Dustin attended the Golf Academy of America in Orlando Florida.  Dustin fell in love with how people learn sports (specifically golf) and motor movements and went on to get a bachelor’s degree from Keiser College of Golf.  He then earned his Master’s degree from the University of Miami in the department of Sport Science and Kinesiology.  He is now pursuing a MS/PhD in Nutrition from the University of New England.   Dustin is a PGA apprentice in level 2.  He is also a certified US Kids instructor and a First Tee instructor.  In 2016 Dustin won “Coach of the Year” for the First Tee in Broward County.  Dustin enjoys working on his own game and loves playing competitively on the South Florida Mini tours and in PGA section events.

While attending the Golf Academy of America, Dustin went from an 18 handicap to a 0 in 18 months.  He understands the frustrations that many of his students feel.  He is a no quick fix kind of guy.  Golf improvement takes time and repetition.  The next time you are at Needwood, please stop by and introduce yourself to Dustin.  He would love to get to know you and help you improve your game.

Adam Fishman
PGA Golf Professional

Adam started his golf career in 1987 at Falls Road GC and has been actively employed in the MCRA golf system since. He became a PGA Member in 2005 and he currently works at both Needwood GC and Northwest GC. His current job titles include: MCG Golf Ambassador, MCG Training Manager, MCG Juniors Golf Communications Director, Recognized Coach The First Tee of Montgomery County, MD., and Boy Scouts Of America Golf Merit Badge Counselor. Throughout his career Adam has showed an enormous passion in player development helping thousands of kids and adults learn the game of golf. He was awarded the 2015 Middle Atlantic PGA Section Youth Player Development Award. Outside of golf his hobbies include attending Washington Capitals games, fishing, gardening, and spoiling his 2 German shorthair pointers.

Adam’s teaching philosophy is to create a comfortable relationship with each student or group making sure all leave a lesson with one positive and one goal to work towards. While his focus is making sure students adhere to golf's core fundamentals, he remembers to take into account a player's true authentic style.

The next time you are at Northwest or Needwood, please stop by and introduce yourself to Adam. He would love to get to know you and help improve your golf game.

Cody Morris

Cody was born and raised in Frederick, MD.  He has been a member of the MCG Golf Academy for 1 years.  Outside of golf, Cody enjoys playing video games, spending time with friends/family and listening to music. He's been playing golf since the age of 12, however he didn't start working on his game and taking it seriously until the age of 21 when he started working part time at a local golf course.  He has since then developed a passion for the game of golf and enjoys helping this wonderful game grow.

Cody's approach to teaching is to present golf education in a way that will allow the student to eventually become their own teacher. He likes to focus on improving what the ball does because, what the golf ball does is the best source of diagnosing a golf swing, pitch, bunker shot, chip, or putt.  Cody also really enjoys getting to know each student as he tries to relate his teaching principles to something of interest to each individual student.

The next time you are at Poolesville Golf Course please stop by and introduce yourself to Cody. He would love to get to know your and help you improve your golf game.

Dave Degirolamo

David was born in New York and raised in Rockville, Maryland. David became a member of the MCG Golf Academy in 2011. Hobbies outside of the golfing world include music, singing, cooking, playing baseball and golf with my son, and spending time with family. He learned to play golf at the age of 10 and loves the game to this day. David has won many local golf tournaments as an amateur as well as a few MAPGA pro-am events. David was first alternate 5 times in local qualifying and eventually qualified for the national finals in the United States Public Links twice. David made it the final match play round of 32 back in the 1990's. It was one of many highlights in his competitive golfing career.

David prides himself on “fun through excellence”. His teaching philosophy starts with a firm emphasis on the fundamentals. He has a strong belief when students begin to understand the basic motion of a golf swing, many positive changes can be accomplished. Explaining the golf swing in layman's terms is very important. Dave always takes into account each individual's physical capabilities when advancing them as a player. He has been teaching golf to people of all ages since 1993 at various golf courses in the area. Dave has many people who continue to take lessons from him wherever he is teaching at the time. He always has fun and makes sure each lesson is enjoyable for the student.
